Weekly Goals

June 30 – July 6 Goals

  • run 3 times
  • resistance train 2 times

It ended up being a very active week.  I taught group exercises classes several times at both ACAC and Gold’s Gym Charlottesville.  I kept my goals in mind the whole week but didn’t end up meeting them so I’ll set the same goals for this week.

June 30 – July 6 Actual

  • Sunday: taught bodyflow and bodypump
  • Monday: taught bodystep and bodypump
  • Tuesday: taught bodystep
  • Wednesday: taught bodypump, ran 2.8mi
  • Thursday: rest day for the 4th of July
  • Friday: upper body strength training
  • Saturday: rest

I worked out almost everyday and taught a tough pump routine twice, but I still need to work on prioritizing my own cardio and strength training workouts – no excuses!  I’m going to try strength training and maybe running with some of the other trainers to help with my motivation.  I know it may be odd that I’m a trainer and group exercise instructor that doesn’t workout much on her own but honestly I’m both nervous about overtraining and trying to figure out if my time at the gym is better spent talking to members and helping others or working towards my own fitness goals.  I don’t want to do a super hard strength workout and then struggle through Bodypump because I need to be able to encourage my class and role-model appropriate weight selection and perfect technique.  I’m also worried about running and stepping too frequently and getting injured.  I know it’s all about balance.  I’ll be taking it one week at a time and making adjustments as I progress.
