This was another busy week. I made sure to schedule time for my own workouts between clients and teaching classes.
I also tried a new spin class this week that was awesome and challenging. Additionally, I did a training session with one of the other trainers who kicked my hiney in the best way. I’ll definitely train with him again. Just like when I train others, it’s so much easier to get more out of your training when someone else is pushing you, challenging you, and giving you confidence that you can do more than you thought. Plus, I learn new exercises and exercise variations when I get trained by other trainers.
Sunday: Bodyflow 61 launch
Monday: taught Bodystep in the morning then Bodystep and Bodypump in the evening
Tuesday: took a spin class and taught Bodystep
Wednesday: subbed Bodypump
Thursday: did a 30 minute metabolic circuit, taught Bodypump and participated in a plank-off
Friday: trained with Adam and taught Bodyflow
Saturday: taught Bodystep
Highlights:
- Sunday’s Bodyflow 61 launch brought a great workout. It’s a solid mix of strength challenges without being overwhelming for any muscle groups. Some new moves and ones that are more familiar. Bodyflow is always a good way to get in a solid stretch and strength workout.
- I had a lot of fun with my Bodystep and Bodypump playlists this week – kept the Bodypump moves simple with fun music and threw in some fast footwork in Bodystep.
- Tuesday, I took a new spin class with a trainer and spin instructor, Lise, that was great – different from any spin class I had taken before. It was formatted as a cycling workout similar to doing track work or hill training to make you a better runner, this class was a lactic acid threshold workout to make you a better cyclist. I followed that (after a few hours) with my 3rd Bodystep class for the week and learned that on hot days, even when it doesn’t seem particularly hot in the gym, it’s extra important to hydrate and stay cool while teaching. I felt myself distinctly overheated by the end of class.
- Wednesday was a simple day with a single Bodypump class and no other workout.
- Thursday, I tried a metabolic circuit that I had planned for a client. It was a challenging workout but I definitely need to make it harder and I’ll be posting a metabolic circuit workout soon once I get the intensity level to where I want it. I also taught Bodypump. Then some of the gym staff were holding a “plank-off” on the rooftop deck so I dashed up to try my hand at my best planking time. I made it to 3.5 minutes but I’m pretty sure I can go longer. Still, I was surprised and please with my plank time.
- Friday was my first official training session with another trainer and it was tough! He’s very inventive and definitely pushed my limits. I plan to train with him again since I always want to challenge and improve my fitness. I followed my day of training and being trained with a relaxing Bodyflow class taught with another instructor. After class, we both commented how nice it is to team teach and really be able to enjoy and participate in the full effect of Bodyflow when we’re not teaching since neither of us regularly attend Bodyflow classes as participants.
- Saturday was an early morning Bodystep class – another hot one – and then I rested the remainder of the day before going out in the evening for a date night and a concert. I didn’t have any rest days this week which isn’t ideal and I won’t have any this upcoming week either so I’m being very careful with myself and I’ll be skipping any of my own workouts this week since I’ll be teaching every day.
- On Wednesday and Friday, I taught my first small group workouts. Both went well but I found some things on Wednesday that I wanted to change. Friday’s group class when more smoothly in my opinion but I think my participants all liked the workouts.
On deck this week, teaching Bodypump 5 days in a row (!!), 4 Bodystep classes, one Bodypump launch, and one Bodyflow class. I’m going to be wiped out by this weekend!
