First Blog Post

So… my very first blog post.  I’ll tell you a little bit more about me and what I’ll be sharing here in blog-land.

Obviously you now know that I’m a personal trainer and group fitness instructor.  In my spare time, I like to workout (no surprise), specifically running and biking.  Earlier this year, I ran my 2nd half marathon and rode 100 miles in the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure.  Since then, unfortunately, my workouts have dropped off as my motivation waned but I’m recommitting and trying to get back to running regularly.  On my fitness bucket list is running a marathon and completing a 1/2 Ironman triathlon.  Of course, I don’t swim well, so that triathlon will probably not be for a while.  I may try to take on the marathon next year.  Also, I’d really love to complete P90X.  I hadn’t been regularly weight training outside of teaching bodypump for the last few years and I really want to get back to it.  I have the DVDs and I’ve glanced through them so I will try to tackle them in the fall.

Outside of working out, I love to vacation with my boyfriend Dave, take weekend trips with him to watch baseball games and see monster truck shows, play poker with our friends, read, watch tv, and lounge around at home with him and our two dogs, Wedgie and Antilles.  Those characters keep my life balanced and fun.  I also spend a lot of time in the kitchen cooking healthy foods.  My favorite food is salad, but you can’t subsist on salad alone so I also like to make dairy-free lasagna, home-made pizza, quiche, and stir-frys.  Almost every week, I try a new recipe which thankfully usually turn out well!  I’m lucky to have a boyfriend that will eat pretty much anything I make, without complaint – hahaha.

Now that you know a little bit about me, here’s what else I’ll be sharing on the blog: workouts that I put together for myself; recipes that I either make up off the top of my head, copy from a cookbook or website, or adapt from some other source; and quotes and pictures that inspire me.
